Student Success Story Toolkit
Celebrate student growth, recognize your teachers, and build a stronger school culture.

This toolkit makes it easy to collect and share real student success moments from across your school. Use ready-made prompts and printable templates to gather stories from staff, then spotlight them in newsletters, on bulletin boards, or at your next staff meeting. Small wins add up fast when you give them a place to live.
Why try it
Student success stories do more than celebrate kids. They remind your teachers that their work is making a difference, and that kind of recognition sticks. Sharing these moments with families builds trust and connection beyond the school walls. And when stories get spotlighted regularly, they become part of your school's identity. This toolkit gives you a simple, repeatable system so the celebrating never stops.

Instructions
Set up your collection system
Decide how staff will submit stories: printed cards in the staff lounge, a simple Google Form, or a standing email request. Pick one method and stick with it so staff know where to go.
Invite staff to share
Use the printable prompt cards to get stories flowing. Sentence starters like "A breakthrough moment I witnessed..." or "A small success that made a big difference..." help teachers know exactly what to share without overthinking it.
Curate weekly or monthly
Review submissions and choose one or two stories to spotlight. Look for a mix of big milestones and small, everyday wins.
Share the spotlight
Feature stories in your staff newsletter, on a bulletin board, during a staff meeting shout-out, or on social media with parent permission.
Keep it going
Refresh your bulletin board each month, rotate stories by grade level or department, and keep the submission system open year-round. Consistency is what makes it feel like part of your culture.
Activity variations
Adapt to fit your school's vibe, budget, and setting.
Video variation
Ask staff to record a 30-second video sharing a student success moment. Compile clips into a short highlight reel for an assembly, open house, or family night.
Family newsletter feature
Add a "Bright Futures" section to your family newsletter each month. It keeps families informed and shows the direct impact of your school's work.
Grade-level rotation
Organize your bulletin board or newsletter spotlight by grade level or department, cycling through teams throughout the year so everyone gets a turn.Coaching conversations that count

Name the teacher
When you share a student success story, connect it to the staff member involved. It doubles as teacher recognition and shows families the impact your team has.
