Look Back on My Day
A simple end-of-day reflection printable for school leaders.

A guided daily reflection tool for school leaders. Use the included printable to record wins, note gratitude, and work through one challenge at the end of each school day. Takes five minutes and fits into any routine.
Why try it
Principals spend the day solving problems for everyone else. This reflection builds in a dedicated moment to notice what went well before the next day begins. The printable prompts are structured enough to keep it fast but open enough to be honest.

Instructions
Print the reflection sheet
Download and print the included "Look Back on My Day" printable. Keep a stack on your desk or in your bag so it's easy to grab at the end of the day.
Record three wins
Write down three things that went well, big or small. These are your little wins for the day.
Note two things you're grateful for
Jot down two things from your day that you appreciated. They don't need to be work-related.
Name one challenge
Write down one thing you're struggling with, then use the follow-up prompt to think through how to approach it as an opportunity.
Activity variations
Adapt to fit your school's vibe, budget, and setting.
Digital version
Type responses into a notes app or document instead of printing. Works well for leaders who are already at a screen at day's end.
Weekly reflection
Use the sheet once a week instead of daily. A Friday wrap-up to close out the week before the weekend.
Team debrief
Use the prompts as a verbal check-in structure at the end of a leadership team meeting. Go around and have each person share one win and one challenge.

Additional tips for running this resource.
Leader Tip #1
Make it a closing ritual
Fill it out at a consistent time, right before you leave the building or after your last meeting. Consistency makes it stick.
Leader Tip #2
Keep it fast
The point is a quick reset, not a journaling session. Aim to keep it under five minutes.
Leader Tip #3
Try it with staff
Pass out the printable at the start of a staff meeting as an icebreaker. Have everyone fill one out and share one win before the agenda begins.
