Creative Whiteboard Prompts to Spark Connection and Community
A simple way to spark conversation, build connections, and add a little fun to the staff lounge.

A simple way to spark conversation, build connections, and add a little fun to the staff lounge. This collection includes 45 ready-to-use whiteboard prompts that help staff share stories, learn about one another, and strengthen relationships one question at a time.
Why try it
Not every culture-building activity needs a meeting, a committee, or extra planning. Sometimes all it takes is a good question in the right place.
Whiteboard prompts give staff an easy way to connect throughout the week. They create natural conversation starters, help people learn new things about one another, and add small moments of interaction to busy days. Over time, those small moments can help strengthen relationships and create a more connected team culture.

Instructions
Pick your spot
Choose a location where staff naturally gather throughout the day, like the staff lounge, copy room, or front office. This is where the whiteboard or paper will live for the week.
Post your first prompt
Print or write one prompt on the board. Swap it out one to two times per week so it stays fresh. The 45 prompts in this resource are organized by day of the week (Monday through Friday themes) to make it easy to rotate.
Read and follow up
Take a couple of minutes at the end of the day to read responses. When you reference what someone wrote in a passing conversation or at a staff meeting, it signals that you noticed and that goes a long way.
Activity variations
Adapt to fit your school's vibe, budget, and setting.
Student version
The resource includes a full second set of 45 prompts written for students. Hand these off to teachers to use in their classrooms on their own whiteboard or shared wall space.
Staff meeting warm-up
Pull a prompt from the collection and use it as your meeting opener instead of posting it on the board. Give people 60 seconds to share with a neighbor before you get started.

Additional tips for running this resource.
Leader Tip #1
Start with yourself
Write your own answer on the board first. It signals that participation is expected and welcome, not just optional.
Leader Tip #2
Start small
One prompt a week is a great place to start. Build up to two or three if your staff is into it.
