The "No-Meeting" Staff Meeting
Low-lift ways to keep staff informed and connected without another meeting.

Three simple ways to keep staff informed and connected without scheduling another meeting. Each method takes minutes to set up and helps leaders communicate clearly while protecting staff time.
Why try it
Clear, consistent communication is one of the most effective teacher morale boosters a leader has. These three no-meeting methods give staff the updates they need in a format that fits into their day, without adding another item to their calendar.
Instructions
Pick your method
Choose one of the three no-meeting communication options below. Starting with one makes it easier to stay consistent.
Activity variations
Adapt to fit your school's vibe, budget, and setting.
Voice memo update
Record a quick voice update and send it to staff via your school's messaging app or email. Keep it under three minutes and treat it like a mini-podcast from the principal's desk: share key reminders, celebrate wins, or call out a shoutout. Tools like Voice Memos, Vocaroo, or Loom all work well.
The "Fast Five" email
Send one weekly email with five bullet points, one sentence each. Use it for reminders, links, and shoutouts. Send on the same day each week, bold or emoji the most important items, and keep each bullet tight. Calling it "Fast Five Friday" gives staff a reliable touchpoint to look forward to.
Shared doc Q&A
Create a shared Google Doc titled "Staff Questions & Updates" and invite staff to drop in questions anytime. Spend a few minutes each morning responding directly in the doc, and link it in your weekly email so staff know where to find answers. Add a short welcome note at the top: "Drop your question here. Answers updated each Friday."

Additional tips for running this resource.
Leader Tip #1
Close the loop
If a staff question or suggestion leads to a real change, say so. A quick "you asked, here's what we did" goes further than the update itself.
Leader Tip #2
Add a pulse check
Pair any of these methods with a single question to gather staff input: "What's one small change that would make your work easier right now?" Collect responses via a Google Form QR code in the lounge, a reply option in email, or index cards at a staff meeting.
