Mug Exchange
A simple team building activity for teachers where staff swap mugs.

Mug Exchange is a quick team building activity where staff bring in a fun or favorite mug to trade for someone else's. Pair it with hot chocolate, coffee, or tea so everyone gets to use their "new" mug right away. It's a small swap that gets people talking.
Why try it
Give staff a lighthearted reason to interact outside of meetings and hallway hellos. Trading mugs sparks easy conversation about where someone's mug came from or why they picked it, which helps coworkers learn small, personal things about each other.

Instructions
Set the date and announce it
Pick a morning for the swap and let staff know to bring in a fun, silly, or pun-worthy mug.
Set up a swap table with drinks
Place a table somewhere central, like the staff lounge or front office, for staff to drop off their mug. Stock hot chocolate, coffee, or tea nearby so staff can fill up their new mug right away.
Let staff pick a new mug
Once mugs are dropped off, have staff choose a different one to use for the day.
Activity variations
Adapt to fit your school's vibe, budget, and setting.
Pair with a theme
Tie the swap to a season or holiday, like "ugliest mug" before winter break, to add some extra fun.
Mystery mug
Wrap each mug before the swap so staff pick blind and discover their new mug as a surprise.
