Staff Appreciation Activities for Birthday Celebrations
Simple staff appreciation activities for celebrating birthdays all year.

A monthly gathering where the whole staff comes together to celebrate that month's birthdays with coffee, treats, and a small gift. It's a simple way to make sure every staff member gets recognized, and the variations below give you six more ways to mix it up throughout the year.
Why try it
Give every staff member a moment of recognition on their birthday. A shared monthly celebration brings the whole staff together over coffee and treats, building connections across departments and grade levels. It also gives you one simple system to track birthdays throughout the year with the included calendar.

Instructions
Set a recurring date
Pick a consistent day each month, such as the last Friday, and add it to the staff calendar so the celebration becomes part of the routine.
Order treats and gather swag
The night before, order coffee and donuts for delivery, and set aside small school swag items like mugs, t-shirts, or tote bags for that month's birthday staff.
Host the gathering
Invite the whole staff to gather before school starts. Recognize each birthday staff member by name and hand out their gift.
Track birthdays for the year
Use the included staff birthday calendar to log birthdays as you learn them, so each month's celebration is ready to go. For staff with birthdays in June, July, or August, celebrate them during the closest school-year gathering.
Activity variations
Adapt to fit your school's vibe, budget, and setting.
"Lot-to" celebrate cards
Give each birthday staff member a card with a lottery ticket tucked inside and a short note about all there is to celebrate about them. Drop it off at their classroom or mailbox first thing in the morning so it's the first thing they see.
Class coverage coupon
Cover a class period or duty for the birthday staff member using the included coupon, giving them a block of free time on their birthday. Let them redeem it whenever it works best for their schedule, not just on the day itself.
Balloon treat drop
Deliver a birthday balloon with a card and a favorite treat tied to the string. Use the included survey to know what treat to bring, and time the delivery for a planning period so it doesn't interrupt class.
Local business gift card
Surprise the birthday staff member with a gift card to a local shop or restaurant tied to their interests.
Birthday parking spot
Reserve a parking spot close to the building for the birthday staff member's full week, using the included coupon to schedule each week in advance. Post a small sign at the spot so the rest of the staff knows whose week it is.
Staff spotlight announcement
Feature the birthday staff member during morning announcements with a few fun facts and their impact on students. Use the included survey to gather details ahead of time, and turn it into a guessing game by sharing the facts first and revealing their name at the end.
