Appreciation Avalanche
A simple teacher recognition idea.

Start a card for one staff member and pass it around the building. Each colleague adds a sentence of encouragement, appreciation, or affirmation before the card moves to the next person. By the time it returns, it's full of notes from the whole team.
Why try it
Celebrate your staff and build a habit of recognition on your team with this quick, low-prep activity. Run it once a month and every staff member gets a turn over the course of the year.
Instructions
Pick a recipient and start the card
Choose a staff member and write the first note on a blank card, sharing something specific you appreciate about them.
Pass the card around
Send the card around the building, one colleague at a time, with each person adding a sentence of appreciation before passing it to the next.
Deliver the card
Once the card is full, deliver it to the staff member it was started for.

Additional tips for running this resource.
Leader Tip #1
Keep prompts open
Ask colleagues to write about a specific moment, skill, or quality rather than a generic compliment, so each note feels distinct.
Leader Tip #2
Track whose turn is next
Keep a running list of who has already received a card so every staff member gets a turn over the year.
Leader Tip #3
Consider team size
If you have a bigger team, consider running the activity within a single grade level, department, or team instead of the whole building, so the card moves faster.
